Everyone is welcome to join the library. Just
come and a member of staff will ask for your name and address etc. or if you
prefer you can fill out a form. A library ticket will be made out for you which
you can use straight away.
What can I borrow ?
- Up to 10 books for 3 weeks
- Up to 8 audio visual items (videos, DVDs, Cds)
- Up to 3 playsets or vocal scores for 15 weeks
- Talking books for up to 3 weeks.
You can borrow and return books at any library in
Stockport. Books and other items can be renewed (as long as no one has asked for
them) by phone, email or by calling in to any library.
What will it cost ?
Books are free to borrow. There is a hire charge
for audio visual items which varies according to the format eg. video, CD, DVD
or talking books. There are concessionary rates for people over 60, under 18 and
Leisure Key Holders (excluding students). If you have a disability related to
reading you may be able to borrow audio visual items free of charge. Please ask
for details at the library.
If you are late returning books and other items
you will be charged a fine. There are concessionary rates on fines for books and
audio visual items.
There are no fines for children under 13 on books
returned late.
Need to use a computer ?
The library has a computer which is free to use.
You can access email, the Internet, write your CV, get help with homework, write
letters and look at the library catalogue. There will be a charge for printing
out any information. This is a very popular service so you are advised to book
in advance. Library staff are happy to help you.
Can't find a book ?
There are over 400,000 books available in
Stockport libraries but sometimes the one you want isn't on the shelf. If this
is the case you can reserve it for a small fee - please ask the staff for
details. We welcome your comments on the stock and you can leave your
suggestions in our comments box or talk to a member of staff.

The Home Library Service delivers books and other

time carers. If you would like more information please ring 0161 474 5600.
